Maison & Objet: On Trend for 2021
Powder coated steel benches...a bright yellow oriole ceramic…”skittle” tables and leather trays: These are just a few of our favorite things from Maison & Objet.
Based in France, Maison & Objet is a trade fair and online gallery representing the most exciting new directions of interior design along with timeless favorites from around the world. How can you go wrong when this Paris house has curated a collection of super-trendy pieces from more than 5,000 of today’s top brands? From Khadi & Co curtains to felted wool Mosha rugs from Panapufa, it’s enough for anyone to immediately refresh their home from top to bottom.
Sun Valley may seem lightyears away from Paris, but at Latham Interiors, we’re fortunate to have close relationships with some of the best designers and collectors. We stayed Stateside for Maison & Objet’s “Digital Days” from February 3 to 5, but got a sneak peek at the dynamic theme of “Trendy Deco.”
As Maison & Objet explains, “Small, easy, trendy decorative pieces can make all the difference, especially when you can't afford to make a total change.” Creative accessories and accent furniture, soft textiles, decorative lighting and alluring scents are all part of the Trendy Deco theme.
Maison & Objet is also a major player in Paris Design Week, scheduled this year for September 9 to 18. We’re already counting down the days to see what comes out of the massive party of good taste taking over three districts of the City of Light.
We’ve just loved watching and listening to the inspiring digital talks, featuring Charlotte Cadé, Co-Founder of Selency, Franck Mallez, Founder of Yourse, Cyrille Coiffet, Director of the Arts & Antiques Department at Catawiki, and journalist Olivier Waché; and covering such topics as “democratizing access to design” and highlighting authenticity in the approach to aesthetics.
Upcoming web talks coming out of Maison & Objet’s expert panelists include “Craft, Métiers d’Art;” “So French,” “Outdoor Living,” and “Sustainable,” among other intriguing subjects. These are a great chance to hear about how great interior design impacts families and communities worldwide.
Really, with 5,000 products, it’s hard to choose our favorite things from Maison & Objet. But trust us to whittle down the best of the best for anyone looking to stay trendy and timeless.
