Our Favorites in Lighting for Shorter Days Ahead
With the first day of summer more than two months behind us, we’re officially heading into shorter days and darker nights. I can’t wait to snuggle up and get cozy in Sun Valley (we’ll have snow in the mountains before you know it!).
Since the fall equinox is less than a month away, I thought I’d share some favorite pendants, sconces, and statement pieces from our shop collections. Whether you’re looking to update your existing fixtures or just want to add some light, we have something for every room—big or small.
I think there’s a misconception that quality lighting has to be expensive, so I want to start with our Faxon Pendant. For less than $200, these pendants introduce a modern sophistication with waxed concrete and subtle brass accents. Style them over a kitchen island or countertop for warm light all season long. For something a little more expensive—and shiny—I’ve always loved the Industrial Dome Pendant. Its antiqued nickel finish adds a kind of vintage charm that’ll steal the show (in a good way).
When it comes to bathroom lighting, I’ve always liked the look of sconces on each side of a framed mirror. Based on the style of your fixtures, you can completely change the character of the space—from rustic to ultra-modern. One of my favorites is our Sister Sconce. The oil-rubbed bronze and single bulb balances timeless sophistication with trending farmhouse. I’m in love.
If you just want to curl up with a good book and unwind, you should check out our Hand-Poured Soy Candles. With scents like sparkling ginger, sandalwood and citrus, toasty java, and white tea, there’s something for everyone’s living room, office, or home library (they also make fantastic hostess gifts!). For smaller votives, the Stella Light Holders introduce a modern contrast of white ceramic and natural wood without drawing too much attention. At $35 for a pack of six, you can style candles in clusters or separately around the house.
The peak of summer might be behind us, but I’m so excited for fall in the Wood River Valley. There’s so much to look forward to—from beautiful colors to dark and cozy dinners spent with friends and family. Enjoy!
